I just purchased a pre-owned 2003 Honda Odyssey last month (privately), with 44k miles on it.  It currently has 45k miles on it.  As I was driving on the highway, my TCS and malfunction lights came on, my rpm's went way up, even though the car stopped moving, and smoke started billowing out of the hood and into the car.  I pulled both kids out of the back seat and had to walk over a block away (as the smoke was really that bad).  The car was towed to the dealership, and since I am pregnant, I had to spend the day and evening in the emergency room for carbon monoxide exposure.  Thankfully, baby and I are both fine, but the dealership is quoting us $4500 to replact the transmission and transmission module.  I don't even know what to do.  We JUST bought this a month ago, so our funds are completely depleted and we don't have the $4500 to drop.  And the tranny should not go out at 45k miles, no way!  Any advice would be much appreciated.

Call Honda America at 1-800-999-1009 and bring it to their attention.  You will most likely get 25% off.  Good luck.
