Odyssey Transmission

Bought a 2002 model new in October 2001 and purchased Honda Care extended warranty.  Had the oil jet recall done whenever that came out, 2004-05?  Transmission started slipping on occassion around 102,000 miles and oddly always happened at the exact same place for my wife.  Really didn't think too much of it since it was rare.  Took it in last week for timing belt replacement at 108,000 and next day went on a weekend trip where the transmission became very rough, slipping banging through gears up and down.  On the way home yesterday it was doing the same thing.  Seems like it's much worse in bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic.  By the time we got home is was banging very hard on the downshifts and slipping in second gear every time.

Going online this morning I never realized the transmissions were such an issue on these models.  I've done every service on schedule at the dealer at which I purchased, but after reading everyone's stories online this mornign, I'm not feeling very good about what they will have to say when I take it in later today.

Update...  they were finally able to replicate the problem after having the tech drive the car home and back.  Needs a new transmission as suspected.  Quoting $4,800 with Honda offering to pick up $1,500.

I am having the same problem since 2008, they kept on saying nothing was wrong. But last week they say we need a new trasmission. How much did you end up paying?

For better or worse, we didn't pay anything.  We handed the keys over and walked away with a brand new 2009.  The crazy thing is I think we paid less for the 2009 than the 2002 and this one has leather, sunroof, XM, seat heaters, etc...
