I bought my Odyssey in Nov of 2000, brand new. It was a 2001 model. I had no problems whatsoever till a couple of weeks ago when the TCS light turned on during a trip to a local Walmart and immediately after that the Check engine light came on. The following week, I dropped it off at the dealership and they called me and said the transmission was out. The lady I was talking to called Honda and said they will offer 50%. That cost me $2261. I am never going to buy a Honda again.

I bought my 2001 Odyssey in Nov. 2000 as well. This week it has been slipping backwards approx. 5 feet after being put in park on an incline (usual spot in the driveway) and with the engine turned off. Going in for diagnosis on Monday. I'm guessing it's the transmission. When I exclaimed that a Honda should last more than 127K, the annoyingly mild-mannered and always unflappable service manager said that he always figures anything over 100K is gravy. Say what???!!!! My family has owned and loved several Hondas over the years. I'd fully expected to get 200K. Don't know how I'll get around him and his lack of empathy or concern. How many miles did your Odyssey have when the transmission failed? Thx.

We had just over 110k miles on our 2001 Odyssey (inherited from original owner) when I started noticing the TCS light and CHECK ENGINE light infrequently coming on. I had the back tires changed for safety, then we went on a 2000-mile road trip. Made it back safe, so I feel fortunate that we did not get stuck on the interstate. Now that we're home the CHECK ENGINE light stays on and the vehicle is lurching forward when shifting gears & the acceleration is a bit slower. Looks like I'll be contacting those class action lawyers to get the details of what is available to us.
