Bummer! 2000 Posted: 12/29/2009

I have a 2000 Ody, I'm the second owner.  Purchased from private party in '04 with 64,000 miles on it.  Has 131,000 now.  Tranny is bad.  Called dealer where first owner and ourselves have had it serviced.  Service Manager recommended we call Honda America.  Long story short, we were told no money from Honda America due to it being over 109,000 mi. and past the extended 7 yr., 9 mo. warranty.

They say that Honda deals with each case individually.  Is there anyone out there who has received even PARTIAL help from Honda America or a dealership even though your Odyssey is past the warrantly and beyond the 109,000 miles?

I need "ammo" so that I can call Honda America again and hope for a better outcome.  I'm not crossing my fingers though.  They have told me it won't do any good for me to call, but next time I will ask to talk with a supervisor.  I know...I'm dreaming, but I have to try.  We don't have $4000 laying around.

I still plan to take car to dealership and see what they will do for me.

Any help (or other resources) would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

They probably offer you some stupid deal which equals to $800-900 discount from over inflated dealers cost. Any way you slice it, you have to spend appr. $3k to replace the trans with remember "refurbished" one, not a new one with 3 yr warranty. Instead spending any of my money with HONDA, I decieded to take my car to local shop and had it rebuilt for $1,600 with 1 yr warranty. I am DONE with Honda. I was a royal believer of Honda but any company that takes the easy road is not someone I want to spend my hard earned money. Because recall would be too expensive for defective trans, they did a cop out "extended warranty". This was only done because they got sued. Screw you Honda like I got screwed. No MORE HONDA. My trans went out at 74k but I went over on the time. I have two kids who will learn how to drive soon. Do you think Honda Accord is in the future? I think not!
