Odyssey Transmission

2000 EX-- Transmission failed at 83K shortly after the 2nd 40K mile scheduled transmission service at local Honda dealer.  Honda replaced it for free.  Took 2 days.  I now have 177K on the van and the replacement is still holding up.  I'm doing my own servicing however.  Instead of the flush, I'm just draining and replacing the Honda ATF 3qt at a time every 15K miles.  I'm very reluctant to get a new HO when this one is done.  I have friends who've had the same thing happen to their Odyssey.  Really sad.

We have a used 2000 Odyssey, had it for almost 3 years never realizing of the transmission issues. We had our 4 kids aboard a 2500 mile trip home & 5 hours into the trip our transmission failed in the middle of nowhere.  It fell in the recall but Honda only allows up to 109,000  miles to qualify. Our van had that when we bought it. We didn't qualify, and even more frustrating was we had to buy another vehicle, pay for several nights of a hotel stay & still ship the van back home. I am not thrilled with Honda!!!

We were planning to buy another Odyssey, but after this No Way!   I Loved my van but Honda hasn't owned up to their part. All of the Odysseys should have a mandatory recall as I know many people have had this same issue. Kinda sad!!!
