Odyssey Transmission

At 99,976 miles on the odometer (12/16/09) the transmission failed. This was the day after we picked up the van from its 100,000 mile checkup. My wife drives it for the most part and had told me when she picked it up that it wasn't running right. Luckily for us we were still 24 miles under our warranty. We got the transmission replaced and are preparing to take it back in as it sounds like the transmission is grinding as you accelerate. Of the three Odyssey owners I work with, we have all three had to replace the transmission. Luckily, I am the only one that was still under warranty. We are currently looking to offload the Honda and will probably look at a later model Honda as the trannies seem to be better in the later generations. Nice van, very usefull, but for the care and time we put into it I am disappointed.

What year is your Odyssey?

The van is an 04. The dealership replaced the transmission because it was under warranty. The new warranty on the transmission is a 12mo/12,000 mile warranty. When we picked up the van it was making a noticeable rattle when accelerating. I took it back in and they said the timing needed to be adjusted. Since I had just had the belt replaced at the 100k checkup I had to laugh as the service manager told me they would have to eat the cost of the timing belt adjustment. I think I made him mad. We've had no problems so far but I'm not holding my breath.
