I had the recall done on my 2002 odyssey. I never had any problem with it, but it was a leased vehicle,so I didn't have it long after. I used to be a honda service advisor, so I will explain the assistance program to you. Honda has no obligation to fix your vehicle after the warranty is over and neither does any other manufacturer. The fact that they will do anything for you(especially up to 109,000 miles) is much better than most others would even come close to. That being said, they consider how much business you've done with them(money spent) when they decide how much to give back to you. Original owners get more help, because they buy NEW cars from Honda and their franchised dealerships. The dealership takes this same philosophy into account when "going to bat" for you. This is nothing new. The better customer you are, the better they will help you

Who ever has your van now is probably getting a new transmission.

Mine had the recall work done on my 2002, and mine went out at 77K miles.  Now I have a replacement transmission from Honda and it is already shifting hard (12 months later).

You said Honda has no obligation?  People buy Honda's because of their quality, and that they last longer than other cars with minimal maintenance.  If they don't have any obligation to stand behind their vehicles, then we have no obligation to buy Honda's anymore.

This minivan was my 4th Honda (and last).  2 of them I bought new, and 2 used.  The Odyssey I bought used.  They only covered 25% of my replacement transmission (so they say), I doubt they paid anything.  I spent a lot of money on Honda's, and got hardly any help.  My next car would have been a Honda had they covered the transmission.

This transmission problem is obviously a known problem, which is evident from the previous class action lawsuit.  Honda tries to deny that there is any problem with the transmission, yet hundred of people are posting their broken transmission stories on this site and several other sites.

You might want to read some of the posting on this site and other sites.  Several families with small children in the car had their transmission fail on a busy highways putting their lives in danger.  What is it going to take for Honda to own up to the problem and get these vans fixed?  A family in a fatal accident?

That "fix" with the oiljet installed was a joke as it never addressed the REAL problem which is the 3rd gear clutch pack being of inferior quality.  Honda knows this and did the oiljet fix just to show "hey we did something about the issue" even though it never fixed that issue.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the transmissions used in the Honda products of this time period were faulty.  Google "transmission failures" with Odyssey, MDX, Pilot, Acura TL, Acura CL, etc. and you see literally thousands of post regarding this.  Guess what...all these vehicles of that time period used the same shitty tranny.  A coincidance??...yah right!!!

To top this all off, once this transmission issue came to light, the resale value on all those affected model years went down the toilet.

Just like Toyota not owning up to the faulty designed floormats until the family of four in San Diego, CA died on the freeway....Honda won't do squat until a whole family dies in their Odyssey because of a tranny failure on the fwy.  Sad but that's they way it is, it's all about money to Honda Corp. and any other car comp out there.

Man, you are one brainwashed Honda robot. When a consumer spends thousands of dollars on brand name products, they expect longevity and quality. I'm sure that if you went out and spent top dollar on a Rolex watch for example, you expect it to work perfectly for a lifetime and in spite of it's mechanical design you expect it never to break down ever! And if it did, you would expect a free replacement. At the very least you expect it to work a lifetime certainly outlasting you and chances are you can expect to pass it on to your next of kin. Why? Don't be an idiot, you get the point, I don't need to explain it any further.

I'm not trying to compare Honda to Rolex here, because Honda has been bragging for years about there "so-called" quality and workmanship! Now I know that Hondas are pieces of shit! We were all fooled! I will never spend another dime on that shit again. Honda doesn't come close to Rolex. If anything they are like GM. Shame on the Honda brand, they have become worse than American shit and they run a racket at all there dealershits trying to rip you off every time you walk in for servicing.

I piss on HONDA, scam artists!
