I have a 2003 Odessey which I bought used in October 2008 from a used car dealership. It was a one owner, trade in and had 62,000 miles on it; it now has 84,000 miles. It had performed flylessly...until this morning. My wife was on her way home from the gym and notice the transmission slipping as it shifted from 2nd to 3rd gear. I then drove it to one of the local Honda shops observing the same slipping my wife explained to me. The recall inspection had been completed on it in 2004. They did their diagnosis and sure enough, the transmission is smoked. In addition to the transmission needing replaced, they told me that the engine computer needed replaced as well. The grand total...around $5,900! They did talk to the regional manager who happened to be in town today and he said they would pick up about $2,300 leaving me with a $3,600 bill. I'm obviously not happy about it, but after reading through some of the blogs, and the summary on this webiste, it looks like I am getting a bigger percentage off than the average consumer (about 40%, leaving me with a 60% responsibility).
