We had a 2000 Odyssey that had its transmission fail at only 5k miles more than the extended warranty Honda had settled from the Class action brought against them. They wouldn't replace the transmission then. We were told the 07 transmissions were more robust, so we traded the 2000 for an 07. At 35k miles, Honda had to replace the transmission on my 07. It was slipping, shuddering and was struggling when going uphill. I'm at 59k now, same problem. I went to the dealer last week and they did a program update. The program update only worsened the problem. It was struggling between 30 to 45 mph, now it does it anytime it's shifting. Up or down. The technician told me it was a torque converter issue and they needed to replace it. The part came in, I bring it to the dealer, they now call me to say they are not able to replicate the problem, therefore American Honda is not authorizing that they replace the torque converter. I wish Honda would own up to the fact they have faulty transmissions and just do a recall. One replaced transmission later, I'm still having the same issue and now they are claiming that there's no issue!

Honda's had the same problem with the odyssey tranny's for 11 yrs. now and refuse to correct their junk.  They need to man up and admit they have junk and take care of their customers.  I'm like the thousands other poor dumb asses out there and am on my third trans in a 2001 with 140,000miles.  First one went at 87,000 miles, second at 138,000.  I've dumped enough money into it I need to drive it another 3-4 years.  Honda replaced the first under warranty (actually a class action settlement that I knew nothing about at that time and Honda didn't tell me) in 2006.  The second one they wanted over $3000 to replace with the same junk as the first two.  I tried to get them to use a Jasper remanufactured but they wouldn't.  I had it hauled to a private garage and put a Jasper in it.  They give a 3 yr / 100,000 mile.  Honda gives 3 yr/ 36,000 mile.  I don't know what it will take for the customers who keep the Japs rich to get something done about them robbing us, but something should be.
