I have a 2001 Odyssey.  In May 2009 the check engine light came on at about 105,000 miles.  Called the dealer, and they said that it may be due to fuel cap (since I had just filled up the gas). Told me to keep driving since it was running OK. The check engine light kept on. Went on summer vacation. Took the van to dealer in July and was diagnosed with transmission failure and estimate of $3125 + tax.   The van kept moving, and now the check engine light came on again with gear shifting issue at 117,000 miles.  Called Honda America and they said even though we were within the 109,000 mileage warranty limit , we had exceeded the 93 month mark by about couple of months. Hence, they will not do anything !  Boy, is this splitting hair or what ?  I understand the legal warranty deadlines etc, but had I taken the van to the dealer in May 2009 it would have been within the warranty (according to America Honda).  I followed what the Dealer had suggested.  Now when I read on the internet that lot of people were having this problem, I became aware and called Honda America.  Will never buy Honda again, and will not recommend to others.
