I have been the single owner of a 2003 Odyssey, transmission failed at 114,200 miles.  The 2nd to 3rd gear shift slip and rev-up was the first sign of any trouble at 114,000 miles.  Perfect operation prior to that.  Within one week of normal driving after first signs, the failure came quick and was total.  TCS and Check Engine lights both on.  Virturally undrivable when failed. Code was PO730.  Honda dealer charged $3364 (includes tax) to replace transmission.  3yr/30k warranty.  However, I had to "leverage" the dealer very hard to come down from the original quote of $4000 by basically stoping just short of having hauling the van to an independant repair show who would have done for a less.  Dealers will negotiate very quickly when a towing service shows up to take the work elsewhere.  I called the 1-800 honda number.  Warranty rep said since I did not have records of fluid changes so was out of luck.  Even if I had records I was told help was unlikely due to 114,000 miles on vehicle.

I spoke with a few transmission rebuild shops and they all indicated that Honda transmissions are more likely to fail right at 120,000 miles.  I'm pulling mine out of the shop, having the transmission rebuilt (1yr, 12,000 mile warrenty) and selling it ASAP.  Please check out my all my problems with my van and consider it as well.  Best Wishes.
