My Odyssey had a fairly classic failure at 114000 miles: Slipping between second and third gear with total failure before I could get it in to a transmission shop. I had to replace the whole thing with a rebuilt Honda transmission with a 3 yr/36000 mile warranty. I got no relief from Honda, but I bought the van used at 40K. After the rebuilt unit was put in, I figured I may as well drive the miles out of the van. Currently at 180,000 with no further problems.

I will point out that I've had similar transmission failures on domestic vehicles - but the transmisions are far cheaper to have replaced. After replacing the transmission in my Ford Taurus, I put another 140,000 miles on it without any more trouble (and it was still running when I sold it at 250,000 miles).

You have done well - very well.  Much better than me and much better than most on this site.  Count your lucky stars that your Honda rebuild has held up this long.

He may have gotten lucky due to unknown changes at Honda, or maybe he has relatively light duty use.  I'm hoping that my Magnefine filter and Haydn external cooler will help along with annual fluid changes, plus that we are seldom doing any heavy loads over long distances any more.
