Bought a 2006 oddyssey in Feb/2010. Started having problems woth the car about amonth after. The engine light cam on. Hond dignosed the problem as transmission. suggested to change the trans. tha was four weeks after the warrentty ran out. after going contacting honds canada, they offered a rebuild with a relacemnt cot of under 6k with taxes woud have been over 6k. The enging light goes went off on its own and came back on few weeks later. Wow are they overcharging you, even in Canadian bucks.

Get a Jasper or Gator rebuild, as it appears that they have been modified to avoid the problem that causes the trannies to wear out so soon, and people here have been happy with them.

Pbug is correct.  That price is unreal.  They are not only screwing you with a bad product, they are robbing you also.  I have a Jasper with over 83,000 miles on it.  My first Honda replacement lasted just over 36,000 miles.  It has come to pass that most people on this website (myself included) trusted Honda after their first failure.  That turned out to be pretty wrong.  Honda knows about this situation (mine is a 2002) as these reports date back to 1999.  You would be wise to talk to an independent rebuilder as well as someone who installs remanufactured transmissions.

MOST IMPORTANT!!!  Get a warranty and get it in writing.  Honda usually comes up with 3yr/36,000 miles.  If they are so good, why so short?  I should have thought that myself.  A good warranty and a good mechanic (not Honda) is what you need.

And remember this - alot of people who have been on this website have promised to dump their car as soon as they start to have problems.  I hope you didn't buy your car from a relative.
