I have a 2001 Honda Odyssey, which I purchased new in April of 2001.  Every maintainence was performed on schedule through the Honda dealer which the van was purchased from.  It is now Nov. 2009.  The van has 92,000 miles.  The transmission was replaced twice and covered both of those times under warranty.  Now it needs it's 3rd replacement and is not under warranty.  I have fought a good fight, but alas....the best they will do for me is to pay half.  I am so frustrated!  I should not have to pay a penny!  And how long before it needs to be replaced again?

You should be covered by the extended warranty Honda issued.  Just had my second transmission in my 2001 installed at 121,000, but they only paid 50%.  I'd fight--I think the extended tranny warranty went to over 100,000 miles.  You should be covered.  I too bought it new and had ALL maintenance (even oil changes) performed on time by my dealer.  The service manager was some help in advocating for us.  Good luck.

I have 77,000 miles on a 2001 Honda Odyssey Van that I purchased used and I just learned from the Honda Dealer service department that the transmission has 6 different computer chips that cannot be "RE-SET" and that is why it is slipping and I was told to drive it until it goes then I could buy a new transmission for $4200.

I bought this Honda from a friend that ALWAYS had it serviced at this dealer and ALWAYS on schedule.

Nobody ever mentioned anything about transmission troubles. Until I took it in and then I was told that Honda had extended the transmission warrenty 7 years or 100,000. miles ...Too late for me now.

I am very disappointed in Honda because of the way that it has been secret after secret....

not disclosing and recalling Odyssey's with bad transmissions installed in them. what a mess I am in now.   spend, spend spend...
