We bought our van new in ‘02 and waited on ‘the list’ to pay full retail price at that time. My Odyssey had 128K miles when it started slipping. We drove it on a road trip after that, which added another 2k miles on it, so it got 130k for the original transmission. History: I had the transmission serviced at the Honda dealer, but was overdue for a tranny service by 3K miles when the problems began. I had also had the recall oil jet part done when I received the notice When I looked back in my records, I noticed that it had begun shifting rough at 60K miles, but the dealer couldn't duplicate the problem, so we forgot about it.
I called Honda and they gave me a case number and required that I take my car to a dealer to have the diagonstic performed. Long story short, they agreed to cover 25% of the replacement of the remanufactured tranny and the transmisison control module. Our cost was $2550 including tax. I’m hoping they’ve fixed the problem; the dealer did the song and dance that this tranny is improved and should last another 200k miles. We plan on keeping the vehicle til it drops dead, so I’m sure we’ll find out if he is right… and I hope it is later and not sooner!
We've had the remanufactured transmission for about 6 weeks now and the shifting is much smoother. They also gave us a warranty for 3yrs/36000 miles.
