Original owner of a 2004 Odyssey (as well as a 1989 Civic and 2006 CRV).  Reliable van that has been used for many family vacations/outings until tranny went bad the other day at 110k miles.  Cost for a remanufactured tranny (with 3 years and 50k miles warranty) is $4,500 from an independent shop.

Also, was not notified of the 2004 transmission recall.  Will open case with Honda America.

Sorry to hear that Ken. I love the car but I just can't believe a transmission costs that much. It is a remanufacurted one at that. Just make sure they put a new oil cooler on the new transmission.Good luck.DAN

American Honda just denied my request to share repair costs because I didn't have the transmission repaired at a Honda dealer.  Warranty on my reman tranny is good for three years (or 50k miles), that will give me time to look for a new family vehicle.
