Hensh - Honda Odyssey 2007 Posted: 02/15/2015

I bought the car new. I service the car at the Honda Dealer. The car runs well and we like it.

However, two years ago the car started to show some signs of problems with the tramsmission; upon travelling for a long distance (NY to Florida) the car appears to not shift to higher gears and we experience a noisy transmission. Next day after resting the noise would go away. Now the problem pops up regularly and we are constantly driving with a very noisy transmission.

I have not taken it to the dealer for fear of a rip off. I always do mu homework before going to the dealer. If I can fix it mysel I will do it. If not, at least I am aware of the problem and less prone to rip offs. by the way I am a mechanical engineer, whic helps.

This one, I am sure of what is going on and I have not gone to the dealer. If any one can suggest the cause, I will appreciate it. Also, I am very disappointed that it is a well known problem, yet Honda is playing dum. May be we can get together and approach Honad collectively. Ths is a very costly problem and my Honda is very well used and has lass than 70K n it!

I will keep you updated.

Your / our first mistake; buying Honda.  2nd, letting a Honda dealer work on it.  3rd, having bought Honda not buying an extended warranty to at least get you a bit longer life to the trannie.  Of course, no way you would have known this.

Find an honest competent trannie person to checkout the trannie.  At only 70k maybe the trannie can be helped a bit.  Or not - in which case get a Jasper rebuilt trannie if you want to keep your Ody.
